Can't Add Credit Card in 'Passcode & Apple Pay'

I get the following.

Could Not Connect to Apple Watch. Make sure your Apple Watch is nearby, powered on, and not in Airplane mode.

It's nearby, powered on and not in Airplane mode. And yes, Bluetooth is on.

Had to reboot the iPhone. Now it works.

Having the same issue.... Originally was having me add a *new* card, which then would tell me it was unable to add. After restarting phone, the card I have in Apple Pay on my phone appeared and just asked for the security code. Even after that, still getting an error "Could Not Add Card".

sorry for bumping this dead thread, but perhaps your Watch might need to add a passcode, i was having that same issue, until i added a passcode

Apple Pay

I had to call my credit card provider to verify it. They had it done in 10 minutes.

That was weird I just set my iphone 6 on my watch and I got it to work.
