I was wondering if anyone else has this problem. I don't have to option to add location to reminders. Only date. How do I fix this?!?!?!

Do you have a 3GS? Location reminders seem to be only for the iPhone4 and 4S.

Well the 3G and 3GS are 3G devices, but it still doesn't work, so that statement isn't really correct.

That sucks. Would be nice to manage via the iPad and get reminded on the iPhone.

    Come on Apple!

I found that you can't add reminders if you have the reminders app set to sync with iCloud.

As soon as I turned off the iCloud sync, I could add reminders again.

    Cheers, jsn76

hmm, I even deleted iCloud account and everything, only keeping an email account - and it still's not working on iPad2 3G.

It's disappointing that you can only add locations from your contact files. I would much prefer the option to enter an address such as a particular shop or town. Fingers crossed for Apple to add this to the next update.

I don't understand why locations are tied to contacts. It doesn't make a lot of sense. Most locations which you will want a reminder about are your own personal locations - e.g. work, home?! Perhaps I can input those addresses into my own contact details and then select them, but I can't really be bothered to try.

i'd be glad if it work anyway - i still don't see the location options in reminders app.

Have you clicked on a reminder in your list of reminders and then clicked "Remind me..."? Sorry to state the obvious but the location option is slightly nested.

Uh yeah, you'd put in your own address on your own contact card. Then you'd just choose that.

"Can't be bothered to try" eh? Lots of work I know.

The issue for me is that the ONLY OPTION listed under Remind Me is "On a Day". THERE IS NO OPTION TO SET A LOCATION.

    I have a 3GS.
    I have an iCloud account.
I have setup some locations in my Contacts.

Still no option to set a location based reminder.

This sucks if it is not available for 3GS.

Uh yeah. Thanks for the sarcastic response. Maybe I don't want all my personal address information on my iPhone? It's not the kind of privacy I was looking for.

I was fully expecting to be able to pick locations from a map interface (contacts too of course, because Siri requires it), so being limited to what you've stored into contacts is off-putting. Sure, you can add locations from Maps into bogus contacts and then pick those for reminders, but that seems like a hassle for anything you want to do just once or rarely.

Create a bogus contact with an address that is "close enough" to your home / work. The geofence in Reminders is probably so large that it covers your home address even if you point it to something across the street.

Oooorrrrr, create a real contact with your home and work. Why would you create something bogus?

Also, the geofencing feature is not on 3GS devices because they do not have the cell/gps hardware to do it. Only the 4 and up.

    Don't know, you'll need to ask tibi08. I was just offering a workaround :)
