Hi everyone,

So I have an automation like this which worked wonderfully for many months:
  • If "sensor x" registers a movement between "time y" and "time z" then trigger "scene a".
Now I wanted to update the times but ran into the issue that I get an error message then, stating that the automation can't be edited. I then deleted the automation and wanted to re-add it but that also doesn't work because then I get an error message that the automation can't be added.

Now I noticed something weird. As long as I don't add any time constraint, it works perfectly. Only when I add the time constraint, I run into these issues.

I really don't know how I could solve this, this never was an issue before, so if anyone can help me, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

reboot any home hubs you might have (appleTVs, HomePods)
unplug them all, and then after the last one has been out for 30 seconds or so, then go back and start plugging them all back in.
probably wouldn't hurt to also add your phone and router to the reboot process

that tends to clear up a lot of automation issues.

Thanks. I did this now but unfortunately this didn't help.

HomeKit is still a very buggy platform from what I see. I had one of my many cameras set to notify me of motion between midnight and 0600 only when I’m not home. Out of the blue it started sending notifications anytime motion was detected whether I was home or not. I notice this behavior briefly when the hub switches. I tried disabling the ATV connected as the Hub but the next hub that took over continued this madness. I changed the time from 0100 to 0600 and that worked but I had to shift the times which isn’t ideal.

if it’s not too much of a PITA, try removing the motion sensor and restore to factory defaults. Then re-add to HomeKit.

Thanks for you help. I'll wait for 14.5 and if the issue continues I will do that. By the way, I also tried to disable and re-enable my Apple TV 4K as the home hub but the issue persists.

Quick update: Tried it again today and now it magically worked! I don't know why but now I could add the automation without any issue. Maybe it was a super weird bug yesterday because daylight saving time started yesterday 🤣
