So...I tried adding the new song by Halsey, "New Americana" to my music from my iphone and it won't stay. It never falls under "Recently Added". It shows up on whatever playlist I put it in for a short bit of time before disappearing. I tried adding it to my library from iTunes on my Mac and it doesn't show up at all. Instead it makes all of my music selections from the cloud unselectable. I get that little cloud icon with the lightning bolt in the middle. Of course, when I press the cloud icon all of my music returns to a solid selectable state, but that song I'm trying to add to my library still won't show up. Anyone else having issues like this?

I think its because that track hasn't been released yet - so they can play it on Beats 1, but its not available to buy or stream until it is released. Not sure if its coming out as a single, but its on her new album due out on 17 July, so should be available from the 17th.

I didn't know her, but heard it on Zane's show the other day and love it. Sounds a bit Lana del Rey.

Actually, I've been able to find it on both iTunes and Apple Music. I can even listen to it on Apple Music. It's under "Hot Tracks" as well.

Not sure then - I'm sure I looked for it straight after I heard it on Zane's show, and couldn't find it. So I recognised it from your post, and looked to see when it was out.

Just looked just now, and grabbed it on Apple Music. Looking at her Facebook page, there's a post suggesting it only went up on iTunes this morning.

Although if you saw it earlier, then that might not be right either.

I've had a few glitches with Apple Music not loading pages or playing tracks that were fixed by a reboot.

I'm having the same problem with random albums. I can't find a way to add certain songs without getting kicked off of iCloud, yet they stream perfectly fine. Can't say I have this problem on Spotify...

Tried chatting with support but they had no idea.

Okay, well is anyone else coming across slightly greyed out songs that can't be played? I'm coming across songs on the Beats1 playlist that are there but can't be selected, played, or added to My Music.

I had the same issue with Halsey's New Americana and Hold Me Down. It stays on my phone but not at all on my computer. And because my playlists sync from mac to phone, the song never remains on my phone's playlists. I have the same issue with Eminem's new song.

I have the exact same problem. Same song too... but it happens with all songs it seems in iTunes on Mac. Even with the new 12.2.1 release today.

Only difference I am guessing maybe, is that I have iOS 9 on my iPhone, which may have upgraded my iCloud for Music account to some "beta" thing. I don't know. But I can add the song (just about from the NEW tab) on iOS 9, but cannot add on iTunes 12.2.1 on Yosemite. On Yosemite I get the cloud with the lightning bolt icon.

EDIT: Actually, I can add albums in 12.2.1, but not singles, like Halsey, or The Weeknd. Both of which are on an album not released yet.

I'm on beta too. But I also tried it on an older device running 8.4 and I have the same issue. The new iTunes fixed nothing in this regard.

Also have this issue with Halsey's "New Americana" (and Hold Me Down). Really puzzling, I've tried just about everything to fix it.

I'm glad it's not just me though, maybe there is something wrong with this specific song.

I also have had this problem, on OS X it won't add New Americana to my library through Apple music and it also disconnects my iCloud music library. I talked to support and they weren't sure, they suggested it may be because the album hasn't been released. The damn interface shouldn't even show the add to my library option if it can't be added....

Same problem here, random songs, all already released years ago. I add a song, it might stay or not. I download a song, it might stay downloaded or not. iTunes mostly doesn't see any songs I added to 'My Music' on my phone, playlists though do show up in iTunes (the song shows up in iTunes inside the playlist but not in the My Music section). I've momentarily given up on Apple Music, at least the iCloud Music Library stuff. On my phone I still have Apple Music enabled but not iCML, in iTunes everything is disabled.

I see greyed out songs after I removed them from 'My Music', if am online I can still play them but if I set the app to only show locally available songs, the grey songs disappear.

This Halsey love is great to see. I love Halsey. No issues with my Room 93 collection (all 3 versions) but a bit bummed they don't have the new album for "pre-order" yet.

Same problem, here, with adding songs to My Music: Sometimes it works; sometimes it doesn't.

To those with this issue:

1. Are you an iTunes Match subscriber?
2. If so, are you over the 25,000-song limit?

I am both, and it seems that may be related to the "Add to My Music" failures. Having exceeded the limit, I'm fully aware that any songs/albums that I add to iTunes will no longer be uploaded/matched. (Apple is working on increasing the limit to 100,00 songs.)

But having subscribed to Apple Music, which is a separate product, I should be able to freely listen to anything in Apple's library (which is indeed the case), and I should be able to freely add songs to My Music (which sometimes works and sometimes doesn't).

Observations:

- On the Mac (El Capitan beta + iTunes 12.2.1), I cannot add songs to My Music at all.
- On an iOS device, adding to My Music works about 1/2 to 2/3 of the time.

(If I try it on iOS just after attempting to do so on the Mac, the iOS device fails every time. Not sure if that's absolute or anecdotal, but it's happen 3 times. Then, a day or so later, adding to My Music works again on the iOS device.)

I'm sure Apple will resolve these issues in time; it was a massive roll-out. But it's frustrating that we who've been paying for iTunes Match all along are now essentially being "penalized" for that, as it seems (based upon what I've read in various forums) that non-iTunes-Match customers are experiencing fewer problems.

The problem is that my 90-day Apple-Music trial is ticking away, despite my not being able to fully experience it by adding (consistently) to My Music. So, I called Apple support and explained this to a rep, who agreed to reset my Apple-Music trial in the future, once this issue with My Music has been resolved. That way I'll get to properly "test-drive" the service, as intended.

I got mine working, but it wasn't easy.

After my previous post, I got into a state in which none of the tracks I had added to My Music would show up at all (on my primary Mac). They are all visible on all my other Macs, as well as my iPhone and iTunes. This supported the theory that the issues were related to the 25,000-song limit.

Here's how I fixed it:

(NOTE: I am not a Certified Apple Tech. or anything like that. I'm just a responsible tinkerer. If you choose to follow steps similar to these, please be careful. You are doing do so at your own risk.)

1. I removed about a dozen albums that I had most recently added to iTunes. Most of them had at least 15-20 tracks, so it was close to 400 total. (I copied their folders from iTunes/Media to another drive, so I can reimport them later with metadata intact.)

2. In Song view, I sorted by "Date added" and noted the date of the most recently added album still remaining (July 18).

3. I quit iTunes.

4. Using Time Machine, I rolled back to July 19 and restored the following files in my iTunes folder (selecting replace):

- iTunes Library Extras.itdb
- iTunes Library Genius.itdb
- iTunes Library.it
- iTunes Music Library.xml
- Previous iTunes Libraries

5. I relaunched iTunes, and after going through its startup and having a look around (a couple of minutes), it realized that several hundred tracks were "missing" (they showed up in the list with the "(!)" mark—indicating they couldn't be found). But these steps apparently put me back under the 25,000-track limit, because all of the tracks I'd added to My Music suddenly reappeared on this machine. :)

6. I selected the tracks with the "(!)" mark and deleted those entries (selecting Delete, not Remove, so they wouldn't reappear from the cloud).

That was last night. This morning, everything is still intact. So far, so good… Clearly I cannot import albums into iTunes without risking another "lockdown" by hitting the threshold again. But in theory, I should be able to use the "Add to My Music" feature (from the Apple Music library) without concern.

So I just added a new album into iTunes on the Mac. Apple Music is officially releasing this album on the 9th. It's looking like even though I have the files in iTunes on my Mac, my iOS devices are greying out the tracks, as I am subscribed to Apple Music. Since I have iCloud Music Library on, I also cannot just create a playlist on my Mac, and put the album there. This is extremely frustrating. Is there a known workaround to this? I understand iCloud Music is obviously matching this album on my computer to what they have currently only as a 'pre-release'...but for ****s sake, I obtained this album legally. As far as I can see, there is no way to get this music on my phone or any other iOS device unless I turn off iCloud Music Library?
