When originally setting up file sharing between to MBPs - one user needed a password to file share, while the other did not. I just wanted to speed things up while I was transferring necessary files to the new book. When I was done transferring I decided to assign a connection password for that second user - but I couldn't find how to add it.
So I deleted the name from the list & re-created the user
was prompted for a password and created one

However, the user can still connect to my book without a password??

Check the user's access privileges in the System Preference's Accounts.
And also check the folder permissions where those users will be doing the file sharing.
Adjust as necessary.
You can change all that with your admisnitrator user/password.

thanks

I tried:
going into accounts and resetting password
(even though they never had one)
that didn't change things

so I deleted the user from 'accounts'
recreated them in file sharing (with password)

they are still able to login without a password
(also they never had 'remember keychain' selected)

sorry

I just restarted their machine

and connecting with a password now applies

:)
