Here is a zoomed in picture of the damage to the iPhone 16 Pro from that video. I say zoomed in because the picture of the 17 Pro that you referenced earlier is zoomed in about as much if not more.
That is from a drop from about chest high.
The reason that the damage from the 17 Pro looks worse is because the aluminum frame is anodized with the Cosmic Orange on top of it. It makes it look a bit worse than it would look if the color was lighter.
People are making a big deal because Apple changed back from Titanium to Aluminum and people went into this launch preconditioned to believe that the Aluminum frame of the new iPhone 17 Pro was going to be worse and so that now their experience has to fit their preconceived notion.
Again like I said it's nothing new.
