This is odd. Don't mind this question, but are we sure this is happening?

Not 100% but 90 % about.

Why ?

I removed my normal SIM and few days ago and been getting better connection speed. Maybe it is just a coincidence ?

Ideally, this should not be happening. The most likely scenario is just that - coincidence. If such coincidences are happening such that you can always repeat them, then you need to talk to both Apple and your networks to figure out what is going on.

For the record, this is not happening with me.

Are you on the latest OS? Update to 15.1.1 and see if that resolves this issue.

Ok good to know!

Yes 15.1 there is no 15.1.1 for iPhone 11.

Oh yeah, there is that. Well, I would say try to resolve this with the networks and Apple first, but if you are adventurous, you can try 15.2 betas and see if that helps. :D

My primary SIM is physical, and is being used for both data and calls. Secondary is being used only for calls. Data Switching is not enabled.

You can also try Settings > General > Transfer/ Reset > Reset and selecting Reset Network Settings. Do not reset plans or anything else right now.

After this, you will have to set your iPhone name in Settings > General > About, and you will also need to enable Roaming for both your physical and eSIM, and you will also have to key in your Wi-Fi password again.

Thanks. Maybe.

My primary line is on the eSIM because it gives me more options to try sense most companies right now are only normal SIM right now :(

How do you mean?

I mean I have AT&T line on the eSIM and no SIM card right now in my phone. I did have a SIM in my phone a few days ago but took it out to test to see if AT&T would give me better speed without it.

I found more people having problems but on different type of phone.

While we are on the subject of esims and sims.

Is there anyway to go back to a normal sim from a esim easily ? Curious.

I would think the easiest way is to talk to network customer care and get a physical SIM delivered to your place. Or, visit the store and get a new SIM configured. That's about all it should take.

Ok thanks.

I doubt I will do this sense I kinda prefer eSIM. Less things to lose.

eSIMs have a different issue.

- Suppose you have to restore your OS for any reason. Your eSIM profiles will be lost.
- When you buy a new phone, the profiles may not get transferred, you will have to request new profiles from your network (time delay).

So, it pays to use your most used number in physical SIM. Consider your options wisely. I would recommend using only a secondary line in the eSIM. Your most used number ought to be as physical SIM.

EDIT:
Wondering why is ‘emotionalsnow’ angry at this comment…

1. As per the wiki on this page https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/esim-dual-sim-q-a.2150226/ plus discussions on Apple, the eSIM will stay on a restore. You need to manually delete it to be gone

2. Going between iPhones, eSIM transfers have been relatively painless from what I have seen. I actually did a physical sim to eSIM transfer when I went from my iPhone X to the 12 pro. Did not have to contact AT&T at all. It was an option when transferring. There are posts on Reddit about going from iPhone to android with an eSIM and most say it’s possible within the carrier’s apps

I can confirm this. Did a clean install of iOS 15 when it came and the esim was still there afterward.

That is such a relief to know.

Please tell me, was that always so on iPhone? I have a vague memory that restoring would delete the profiles. If not, this is amazing. I love this!

Then, someone please tell me how to use eSIM as primary SIM on iPhone 13! :D

EDIT:

Erasing all content and settings, the thing I do before I use DFU method to restore OS because I want absolutely clean as possible - that method is going to take away the eSIM profiles.

So .... not exactly helpful in that way. People can still accidentally delete their eSIM profiles. Also, what about DFU (without using Erase All Content and Settings option)? Will that also erase eSIM profiles or retain them?

I have only owned an iPhone SE 2020, so I can not tell how previous model behaves.

When I did clean install I did use DFU mode.

Mmm, I currently have an 13 Pro Max, running iOS 15.2, no physical SIM, and 5G has been limited to 1.3 MB/s in every speed test.

I'ev reset the network a few times now and tried varied versions of 5G vs. LTE and it's all slow.

I think I fixed the issue but not sure how lol.

Hopefully it is fixed though.
