I've been using my iPhone X since launch day November 3. I also have an iPhone 6 that I use as a backup. I turned it on for the first time tonight since I got my X and couldn't operate it. Home button? What the heck is that? How come I can't swipe, can't switch apps? Why is the screen so dark? And small?

I know some folks have switched back to their old phones but I sure don't see how.

I think in general you will read complaints on a tech forum, but the real adjustment is using just gesture controls, Face ID and overall adjusting to the new iPhone X. It's just a transition phase.

I think the X is certainly the most exciting iPhone ever. It just works so well. It could use another gig of RAM, though. Maybe next year...

It took me a week and two tries before I really got the hang of it. I got my X on launch day and it was boxed up for return 4 days later. Then, I unboxed it again and gave it a second chance and the rest is history.

Why are people always so amazed that human beings can adapt to things? A person who grew up in Alaska can live a perfectly normal life in Arizona. A person who learned to drive on a stick can drive just as well on an automatic. A person who hated brussel sprouts as a kid can love them as an adult. And a person who used a 2016 iPhone can also somehow manage to operate a 2017 iPhone.

I used the X for two weeks and switched back to my 7+ yesterday. It was a sad moment to say goodbye but after 30 seconds I was back to work. It wasn't a big deal and I'm 1000% positive that any iOS user can adapt to any intelligent or ridiculous new feature that Apple will ever introduce.

TouchID is just as awesome today as it was two week ago. Thats because Amazing Tech doesnt cease being amazing just because Apple tells you so.

I got my “non-techy” wife an X so that way I could just get her used to it ... she has pretty much no problems at all. She asked me the other day how she could see the battery life of her headphones, that was the worst of it ... so It’s not as bad as people make it out to seem.

Definitely was more of a seamless transition than I anticipated. I personally still like using Touch ID for my iPad 9.7 . I feel like the picking up my ipad to use Face ID would be too clunky honestly

That's the one thing I was so happy that Apple removed - home button. The headphone jack is a different story which is why SE really does make a great iPod.

I wanted gesture controls like a half decade ago. And I wanted Apple to remove physical home button for years and just replace it with a capacitive button. Use double tap to wake and sleep like how LG does it.

Home button was so archaic. After this seamless transition, complacency will sink in much quicker too. *yawn* People will be thinking, what's next? ADHD/instant gratification era we live in.

I was not a real fan of touch ID. I found it to be much slower than Face ID. I have hard to read fingerprints so for me touch ID would take several attempts. And no recalibrating my prints did not work. I now find it annoying on my iPad.

Face ID is instant for me. The only time it failed I had on dark large sunglasses and was looking at it from the side as it set in my handsfree holder. Otherwise it is so good I find it seamless. I love the swipe feature. It took me a couple of hours to get the hang of it.

Hey, that's my ex-wife!

Here's my point, perhaps poorly made. Not only did I quickly adapt to the X, in 2 weeks, I found it difficult to use my old iPhone. I've had nothing but iPhones since the 3G in October of 2008. It only took 2 weeks of the X to make me forget everything I learned in 9 years.
