A few weeks ago we upgraded from 9 to Tiger at work. I have an old G4 AGP graphics. After installing Tiger I could not start directly into Tiger. I have two drives - one with Tiger/classic and one with 9.0 as a back up boot basically. When I try to start up I get the "No Smoking" symbol. So I have to hold option down at start up to select my old 9.0 back up, start in 9.0 and then start in 10. Very convoluted. I decided to remove my 9.0 back up incase it was the conflict to starting in 10. I still cant boot straight to 10. Now I have to use my start up disk boot into 9 and then boot in 10. I repaired permissions in 10 and verified the disk, no problems. What will happen if I archive and istall 10 again, will that fix it? what can I do to just start straight in 10? Any advice is appreciated. Sorry this is so long.

Try archiving and installing Tiger again...I've had some problems with computers deciding not to want to boot into OS X anymore...a reinstall, while painful, usually does the trick.
