Maybe somebody can shed some light on this for me.

Im trying to burn a cd from an album i bought on iTunes.

The disc is a sony CD-R with 700 MB of space.

The album i want to burn only takes up 172.8 MB of space, but iTunes keeps saying that the file is too big and that it needs to be split up into two discs.

How is this possible? If anyone could help me out that would be great.

What is the total combined length in minutes of the songs you are trying to burn?

You may be trying to burn an audio CD instead of a data one. If this is the case, the audio is limited to 80 minutes of playtime.

It depends on how you are going to use the CD. If you must have it as an audio CD, no, you need to remove a couple minutes of audio. If you simply want to transfer the files then you can burn the CD as data instead of audio and store up to 700MB of whatever data you want.

Burn it as data instead of an audio cd. If it's a DRM'd album (not iTunes Plus) you might not be able to burn it and have your CD player read it. Also, be sure that the CD player that you want to play back on supports MP3 CDs.
