Hi guys. I really need your help
I bought a MBA 2013 11-inch few weeks ago. It doesn’t have internal SSD so I have to use a 2.5-inch SATA3 SSD and connect to the Macbook using Orico box. I installed High Sierra 12.13.0 into the SSD (Can’t install higher OS version because of missing firmware partition)
Everythings seems to be normal except charging.
When I start to charge MBA, it WILL charge for about 1 or 2 minutes and then it stops charging, the light on the charger goes off. If I unplug and then plug the charger into the MBA again, it won’t work. I have to unplug it FROM THE WALL OUTLET and plug it back in in order for it to work again. Then it will start charging for 1-2 minutes and the problem will start again
But, if I turn off the MBA, it will charge normally. After a while, I turn on the Macbook and it will stop charging again.
Sometime the problem only happens 1-2 times, and then it charge normally with the Macbook turned on. Unfortunately, it’s starting to happen a lot
I have tried to reset NVRAM, SMC but it still not work. I think maybe the 45W charger can’t give enough power for the MBA and the SSD box so it turn off itself for safety???
Please help me guys. I really appreciated

Update 1: Now it will charge normally if the battery is not below 50%. What should I do now??

Hi
Did you do the Verified SMC reset (one where you know it worked)

If your theory is right it should be charging while the Mac is of.

Actually your problem sounds very much like a DIRTY MagSafe plug. Clean it with tooth brush.
