Hi,

I seem to have a problem with getting my LG 42" LCD TV to recognize my macbook pro so that I could use it as a second monitor. The equipment i'm working with is:

A mini display port to female HDMI adapter and an HDMI cable.

Beyond a shadow of a doubt i'm on the correct input on the TV (I've tried all three HDMI inputs that the LG tv has)

I've tried changing all of the resolutions both on the macbook and the LG tv.

I've called LG and they told me that I had to call apple, but the guy on the phone seemed convinced that I needed to change my mac screen resolution to 920 x 1080 (which my computer doesn't list as an option)

I then called apple and although helpful, we just went through the rigmarole of troubleshooting to no avail (including changing resolutions, trying different HDMI ports, turning the tv on and off, rebooting the mac, software updates on the mac, unplugging, replugging, BLEGH!) Nothing.

I heard through the grapevine that lg doesn't "support mac". That's pretty vague, but I hope it's not true.

Can I successfully connect my macbook pro to my LG tv somehow? Am I doing something wrong? It worked on my old Sony. Does LG just suck? Please Help.

Thanks in advance,
Jimmy

You may have to go to your LG control remote and dial in a different HDMI input channel. If not that, then you may need to go to Display in System Preferences and set the TV as a monitor. If you have done these already, then I am not sure else I can offer to help you out.

hi,
i have the same problem. I have a Macbook pro 13'' new, just bought. When i tried to connect it to a lg tv, i obtained only "no signal". Anyone knows why? Somewhere i found people saying that the problem has born after the OS 10.6.4 update .... help me please

Maybe i have the solution.

Just connect both the hdmi cable to the hdmi in port and the audio cable to the AUDIO IN (RGB/DVI) in port in the back of your tv. It worked for me.
Hope this helps!!

solution!!

the TV acts as a second screen so grab and drag whatever window you want allllll the way to the right and you'll see it appear on the tv! (it works the same as if you had two monitors and the left is the macbook and the right is the tv)

Why go through all the trouble registering here for one post in a thread, where the Original Poster (OP) probably already found a solution almost one and half years before your post?

Probably so someone like me could come along three years down the road and see their solution. So thank you solymar73 for your solution. Helped me out a ton.
