HomeKit Can’t connect to Sengled smart lights

so I just got Sengled smart lights as a gift. I have them set up and working. They can connect with home kit but it won’t scan the QR on the back of the hub and I don’t have a code to type in. Any suggestion if anyone has these bulbs

The QR code should have an 8 digit number next to it. Never heard of a HomeKit device with a QR code and no corresponding digits.

when you click on “I don’t have a code or can’t scan”, does the device show up at the bottom still?
