can't create message in mail full screen

Ever since updated to 10.7.1 my mail is acting funny when in full screen mode. I can no longer reply or create a message when in full screen...I press the button and nothing happens. I have to exit fullscreen mode to create a new message.

Anyone else have this problem and if so find a solution?

No problems for me on new iMac with Lion preinstalled.

Still a problem

I'm having this problem in 10.7.3. I can whack the new mail or reply buttons all day in full screen without the compose sheet coming down. Every time I want to write an email I have to window the app. Can anyone think of a possible reason?

Happens to me once in a while too. I click the New Message button and nothing happens. Un-fullscreening the app and clicking again for a new message works. I've only noticed this on my admittedly rather old MacPro, and to be honest, running mail full-screen on a 30" apple display is overkill anyway, so I stopped using it like that. I've never seen the issue on my MacBookPro.
