Hi,

I just did a fresh install of Mojave after which I installed Security Update 2020-005 and now I can't create new user profiles.
When I go to Users and Groups I can click the + button and I can fill in a name and password for the new user, but after I press ''make user'', nothing happens and no new user appears on the left side. In the login screen there's also no new user but when trying to use that same username for a new user MacOS tells me that name is already being used..

Could anyone help me out here?

I already tried Booting in safe mode, which doesn't help, and enabling root user doesn't work either..

Forgot to mention I literally had a 2 hour conversation with an apple ''senior'' about this yesterday and all he could suggest was to reinstall MacOS on a faster network.. I said I already tried that but this was completely ignored. Typical of Apple to put the blame on something out of their control.

LMAO I literally found this post via google after you replied in my thread on apple support forums.
Btw, have you tried logging in via username+password (instead of user list icons)? This just doesn't work for me.

Haha that's funny. Yeah I figured I might as well post about this issue here as well.

Yeah I've tried that as well.. Doesn't work either..

Can you fresh install from the 10.14.6 installer? This is a known problem following the 2020-005 Security Update:

Like I said..

I just did a fresh install of Mojave

But I actually made two APFS partitions. The first one doing a completely clean internet recovery (wiping the complete disk) with internet update to SU-005. The other one using the pre-downloaded 10.14.6 installer from the Appstore + the pre-downloaded Sec.Upd.2020-005 ISO. No difference at all..

You've missed the point; the security update causes the problem you're seeing. Reinstall Mojave but do not reinstall the security update.

It's actually Safari 14.0.x and 2020-005/6 not playing as per Apple not watching what they were doing. BUT you can do a clean install with the last release of 10.14.6 Rev 18G103. Then install the SU 2020-007, forget about 005 & 006 and all. Install Safari 14.0.2 if you have to. Then install the 2021-001. And if adventurous you could do the 14.0.3b1 that really screwed up my Apple Login Passwords.

This info is pretty outdated. The problems are resolved with all the recent (2021) security updates and the release version of Safari 14.0.3. You can get there by just installing the newest updates without having to install the older security updates.

"Then this conversation is outdated?" Not too far above they talk about 2020-004, that's outdated. There's post of 2020-005, that's outdated. What I was supplying was a shortcut for those that have been doing reinstalls from the 2020-00Xs. Where the 18G103 has all the updates up to 2020-006 and can just do the 2020-007 and easily move on. And I have done that many times and am having no problems with 14.0.2 but after updating to 14.1s3, I got these same issues discussed.
