Can't decide between models

999 MacBook Air
899 Macbook

Uses: multitask browser / MS office applications, powering two monitors (ideally)

I love the 12" MacBook... but that is not powerful enough for the long haul.. is it? I can afford any of the above, I just can't decide on what will ultimately be best for the long haul and last the longest.

What’s the most cost effective way to connect both monitors? Already have a usb c connector, read something about daisy chain thru thunderbolt?
