Really can’t decide between the 14pro, 14 or 14 plus.
Coming from a 12pro.
EE in the UK hardly have any stock of the 14pro but plenty of the 14 and plus.
Will I really miss the telephoto?
Most of my photos are when I’m out on the mountain bike and holiday snapshots uploaded to Facebook.
Mainly use phone for listening to music and web browsing when I don’t have my iPad Pro which is my main device.

Of the 14 series, is the telephoto lens the only thing you’ll miss? Do you have any desire for:
- promotion display
- Always-on display
- 1,000 nits max brightness (typical)
- 1,600 nits peak brightness (HDR) and 2,000 nits peak brightness (outdoor)
- TrueDepth camera array with Dynamic Island
- A16 Bionic chip
- 48-megapixel Main camera with ƒ/1.78 aperture
- Second-generation sensor-shift optical image stabilization
- Adaptive True Tone flash
- LiDAR scanner
- Night mode portraits
- Macro photography
- Apple ProRAW
- ProRes video recording up to 4K at 30 fps (1080p at 30 fps for 128GB capacity)
- Macro video recording, including slo‑mo and time‑lapse

Those are some other things to consider when choosing a non-pro model.

Some people can’t tolerate the screen on the 14 Pro (dizziness, nausea, motion sickness, eye strain) but get along ok with the 14.

My advice is buy both then return the one you don’t want (or can’t tolerate)

Night mode and Macro are probably the only things of interest.
Found my 12pro gets demolished by the wife’s S22U for night shots.
In all honesty there’s a £3 difference per month between all of them.
With the Pro Max being £66 per month.
Currently £64 per month on 12 pro.

Given you already have a pro and the difference is so small per month I’d get the Pro personally.

I assume you're at end of contract? For your use, it's hard to see a 14 giving you any jollies other than a mild new phone buzz. You could switch to a SIM-free contract and trouser £50+ per month while you mull over the possibilities, bearing in mind the 12pro is still a pretty strong package. Before you know it the 15 will come chugging along.

Only you can determine what is the best fit for what you intend to use any of before mentioned phone. When I replaced my 11 Pro I went straight to the 14 Pro because I was comfortable with the size and feature set of the one I choose. I did one thing this time that I wish o had done on my 11 Pro and that is get more storage then the base model. When I got the 11 Pro I got a 64 GB model and that was a mistake. With the 14 Pro I went with the 256 GB.

To be fair my main concerns are decent Battery life. My previous phones were Android (Samsung and HTC) with the S9 being so dreadful I sold it and Used my Mums upgrade to get a iPhone 11 for 12 months to try and it was miles better than the S9.

The 12pro has been excellent but I always sell after two years and use the money for something else like holiday money etc whilst it still has some value. Battery health is already at 86%

I’m happy with the 12pro camera and to be fair the iPhone 11 was also perfect for my needs to.

Just doesn’t seem to be any 14 pro stock in the UK or EE.
Unfortunately limited to EE as it’s the only network that offers signal where I live.

If the only reason you would go for the 14 is that the one you actually want isn't available you probably shouldn't. If there's something that actually draws you to the 14 then that's different.

Might just wait till after Christmas and see what’s available. Had a plan of
iPhone 14 pro/pro max first choice

Samsung S23U/Plus if the UK gets Snapdragon chips

iPhone 13 Pro/Pro max if the above are unavailable or ridiculously priced

Pixel 7 pro

And failing the above 14/plus

If you’re on EE you looked into 13 pro max?

Yah know ^13 pro might be a really good option, though you’re coming from a 12 pro… so… maybe 14pro better.

I think you will miss the Pro by getting the regular 14. (Lots of reasons)

Keep an eye out every day for one that pops in stock, and be patient.

I'll get the Pro anyday, for all the features mention above its worth it, resale value will be higher.

The telephoto lens is probably the feature I use the least to be honest. I like the macro capability and use that fairly regularly. For the OP it depends on whether they use it very often and if they do, it’ll be missed .
