Can't delete disk from desktop

So i downloaded this stupid file called gimp and now i can't delete it. When i try to put it in the trash a message comes up saying ... "The disk "Gimp" is in use and could not be ejected. Try quitting applications and try again." The thing is it isn't in use. I've quit applications and tried again many times. Any ideas?

Restart the machine and try ejecting the disk image again.
