Can't Delete iPhone Backup in iTunes

[JASApplications]

I'm trying to delete an old backup for my iPhone in iTunes but it won't delete.

I go:
Preferences>Devices>(Select the backup)delete backup

It just freezes for a few minutes, appears to have gone but when you go back into preferences>devices the backup is still there.

Any ideas?
