iPad Pro Can’t detect AFPS drive?

I tried to connect an external SSD which is AFPS formatted and was used as TimeMachine backup. And it can‘t detect the drive.

Is it because it was used as TimeMachine backup and encrypted? Because on MacOS it can connect.

I thought that encrypted drives are not supported, at least yet.

Indeed, it's because iPadOS/iOS do not support reading encrypted disks.
