can't do direct download with chrome on my mac

hi
this issue is driving me crazy for the las few month
i love using google chrome on my mac , but every time i need to download a file i click on it but the chrome wont open/download it , i have to switch every time to my safari and copy the link there in order to download the file .

Are you running Chrome 5.0? For starters, I would check the Chrome Preferences, for the Under the Hood section and verify that you have a location set to save downloaded files. Do you recall the last time you were able to download files in Chrome? Did you perform an update to either the OS or Chrome before you encountered this issue?

in the beginning it was ok
and than it stops
everything looks good in the settings

Check your /Library/Internet Plug-Ins folder

I had the same problem and found that I had an old Speed Download plugin there probably trying to direct the download to a not-anymore-existing Speed Download application. After i removed that plugin, everything is a-ok.


Wait...this was almost a year ago...well somebody googling this will hopefully find it useful. I found this thread when searching for a cure myself.
