The last thing I downloaded was Safari 9. Since then nothing has downloaded from the app store. It will be stuck on "waiting" for a few minutes then I get the following error: "El Capitan (or whatever program) failed to download. Use the purchases page to try again"

I tried using the purchases page, Selecting "check for unfinished downloads", signing out and back in, restart, shut down, clearing app store cache, clearing app store downloads folder, enabling safari cookies. None of that has worked. Any ideas on what might be going on?

System Specs
Mid 2012 15" macbook pro
Core i7 2.6ghz
8 GB Ram
OSX 10.10.5
750GB hard drive with 400gb free
Tried on both ethernet and wifi

More people have similar issues.
I have them on OS X El Capitan after a clean install, and on an older Mac running Mavericks.

Look here: https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...in-mac-app-store.1922832/page-9#post-22062014

And here: https://discussions.apple.com/message/29077982?ac_cid=tw123456#29077982

Might be a good idea to use this thread to list which apps have the "Failed to Download" issue.

My list:

Call of Duty 4
Company of Heroes
Mplayer X

Me too! My four programs that won't download are:
  • Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
  • Sid Meier's Pirates
  • Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
  • Limbo
I have seen on another post that someone was having troubles with Company of Heros. I wonder if it is only certain apps?
I can download other apps, no problem.

Any solution guys? The popup after I login is so annoying me! :(
Unfortunately no :( I tried with caches, with developer menu and reset app store, tried with CMD ALT P R (not that I expected that to work) I think it is a matter that only Apple can fix from their end.

I had a similar issue recently and was able to resolve it by opening LaunchPad and removing the entry there for the app that was not downloading.

Apple is sure taking its sweet time with this.... I would consider a download issue pretty important for a download only store....

I appreciate the replies. At least it's something that seems to be common amongst others. I'll add the following to the list of things that won't download for me
  • OS X El Capitan
  • Call of Duty 2

I'm getting the same message trying to download Call of Duty 2. This is so annoying! I paid 24$!

At least Feral gave me a download from their store, so I am happy with the support they gave me, on the other hand not very happy at Apple, one entire week without solving the issue is a bit too much, will definitely NOT but from the store again in fear of having a must have app not downloadable when needed!

Recieved an email from iTunes_CE, i removed only the name of the operator, but you can read the reply i got:

"Hello Andrea,
Our apologies for the delay. I was escalated your email. We are very sorry to hear about the issues you’ve been running into with re-downloading an app that you previously purchased from the Apple App Store. We appreciate you taking the time to contact us and value your feedback greatly. I have forwarded your feedback to our development team for review, as we really do want to make sure the Apple iTunes & App Store's services are the best they can be for our customers. Please reply back and let me know exactly what app you are referring to, that you’re having problems downloading. Also, please confirm if this app was originally purchased from your yabeweb@gmail.com Apple ID that I found on file. We really want to help get this situation reconciled for you. Please reply back and I will be happy to further investigate this for you.
Thank you for your patience,
