I just updated my eMac from 10.2.8 to 10.3.9. I've done all the software updates, and I did the erase and install and made my sister the admin and only user. She has a PC, and she burned a lot of picture files and audio onto CDs and is transferring them to the eMac. She dragged the files created on the PC from the CD into a new folder on the Mac. Now she can't drag and drop between the folders on the computer in Finder. It keeps asking her to authenticate it and says the folder can't be modified. Does she have to create all new folders and drag and drop each single file from the burned CD?

Also, she tried downloading DivX and installed it. I wasn't around. She said it seemed to work but now when we open it it just tries to install again. She keeps getting asked for her password a lot just trying to move things around in Finder.

Anyone have suggestions or know what might be causing it?

Thanks for the response! Sorry I didn't say in the post that I have already repaired permissions. I have also made sure that my sister is set as the owner and that everything is "read and write".
Help! I have the same problem!!!! Just suddenly.

Ha ha didn't notice that.. I'm running version 10.9.5 I found a work around, what I did was copy and pasted the folder, I was then able to drag and drop the copied version into a folder, then erased the original versions.
