Can't edit any names on File/Folder -> Get Info?

My keyboard is working fine and it seems everything else in my mac is working. Yet I cannot edit any file names through the Finder -> Get Info -> manually edit the names.

Any ideas? Is this a bug in 10.4.9?

Can you edit the file names through Finder by selecting them and pressing Enter?

If not, are you positive you have permissions to these files? (Under Ownership & Permissions)

If so, are you trying to edit it in the Name & Extension area of Get Info?

i am having this same problem, restarts have been getting rid of it so far.

permission are ok and have been repaired on the drive also. I am not sure what is going on here.

Please give us a dump from terminal on some of the files that are exhibiting this behavior.

ls -l

Fixed for now, i deleted com.apple.finder.plist and com.apple.sidebarlists.plist and restarted.

If i have the problem again I will post that info, do i just type "ls -l" into the terminal? When it happens, it happens to every file and every folder.
