My external ssd have several volumes and one of them can't eject normally each time I connect it.

it's formatted to FAT32 using my Mac, I can do the force eject.

It's getting annoying because it happens every time.

It happened after I searched some file in that volume and deleted them.
I did try to exclude the volume in spotlight search list but it didn't solve it.

I have macOS sequenia 15.7.7.

Knowing what "doesn't happen" isn't really helpful for troubleshooting - what DOES macOS say when you try to eject?

Any different if you try it immediately after reboot or immediately after plugging in the drive?

How about in Safe Mode?

It says one or more apps is using the drive.

I just tried immediately after plugging in and it worked this time.

And then I plugged it again and copied a file then it ejects normally 🙄, maybe the problem solved, I don't want to try any more now. I hope it works now.

Thanks for answering.

I suggest that you might have a better result if you re-format that external drive, changing the format to ExFat, rather than the (relatively crippled) Fat32. You would need to back up the files on that drive that you want to keep.
