According to that article, digital subscriptions to the likes of Wired, GQ, and The New Yorker are up 268% after Newsstand. My question is, how do you actually get these subscriptions? Whether I go to the App Store on its own, access it through Newsstand, search the App Store in general, or go to the "Newsstand" category, I can't find a single one of these Condé Nast publications. Simply browsing the Newsstand category yields only crap such as "Guitar World Magazine", "Harper's Bazaar UK", and "The Oklahoman".

    Examples of searches-in-vain:

I search for: the new yorker
Results: "Goings On: The New Yorker", "The New Yorker Animated...", "The New Yorker Festival", and then a bunch of other results even less relevant to my desired result of: "The New Yorker" (aka that magazine that smart folks read)

    I search for: wired
Results: "Rocketeer" (developer's name contains: wired), "Wired News (UK)", "Wipeout Dash" (developer's name contains: wired), and on and on... but no: "Wired" (aka that magazine that techie folks read)

    I search for: esquire
Results: "Esquire UK", and then a bunch more crap that is not: Esquire (aka that magazine that men read)

Can anyone help me figure this out? Subscriptions to these are supposedly skyrocketing, but I can't even FIND a single one of them, let alone subscribe.

Are all of these iPad-only? I'm doing this from an iPhone 4S, so perhaps that's the problem.

Please help -- this is driving me insane. I tend to think I'm about as on top of this kind of stuff as one can be, and yet this has me utterly stymied.

you are in the UK, you'll find that the content you are searching for is not available in the UK.

I have a few subscriptions via Newsstand (Cosmopolitan, Nat Geo, and The Daily). Despite a thorough search, I couldn't find Cosmo on my iPhone, only on iPad. I believe that several (if not many) subscriptions are limited to the iPad.

Just verified that The Daily is limited to iPad, and I'm not able to find Nat Geo either. Honestly, it makes sense to me after seeing how much interactive content is in each of these. Trying to access those magazines on an iPhone would be immensely difficult.

Unfortunately, I don't believe that is the answer. I'm in the Bay Area, CA, USA.

Me, too! All other app store searches work like normal. My iTunes account has always been USA, with a USA credit card.

Would someone else in the US please use an iPhone 4S to perform the same searches I detailed above ("the new yorker", "wired", "esquire") in the App Store and let me know your results?

I searched in iTunes on my computer, so I can see iPhone & iPad apps easily all at once.

Esquire - Esquire UK is available for either iPhone or iPad; "Esquire iPad Edition" is the only one I find for US Esquire.

New Yorker - The New Yorker Magazine, only on iPad

Wired - WIRED Magazine, only on iPad

Thank you. It is starting to look like this is the issue, i.e. all the [what I view as] "real" publications (i.e. major ones) that are getting such a boost seem to be iPad-only. I thought at least The New Yorker would be available on the iPhone (it's mostly text...).

Still open to more input from others, but feeling less insane, thankfully.
