Can't find app store on OS 10.5.8

Hi,

I am running Mac OS X 10.5.8 and have updated the software but still can't find the mac app store anywhere. Do I need 10.6 and up for the app store?

If i get 10.6 from a friend and install it, does that mean i will lose all my applications if i dont have the original dmg install files?

That DVD won't work, as the grey Restore DVDs are machine specific.

Just get the Snow Leopard Upgrade DVD and do a standard installation, it will not delete any of your data and applications and upgrade your Mac to Mac OS X 10.6, and it costs one USD less than 30 USD, though it might be a bit more expensive in the Lebanon. Maybe eBay can help you there.
