I had thought any app that runs on an updated iPad would be able to be found & run on an M1 Mac.

I can't find the AT&T TV app in the App Store for my M1 Mac mini. Can anyone point out what I'm possibly overlooking?

There was a way to side load apps via Imazing. But MacOS 11.1 blocked it. One user on reddit said they were able to find a workaround but they haven't revealed a guide yet.

Edit: It appears that the user has deleted his comment, so that's a bummer. Sorry Tozovac.

Proof AT&T TV work:

The developer of the app can opt out of the m1 compatibility and there are a lot of apps that are not available for m1 Macs.

Thanks. Well that’s disappointing to hear. This is the first time I’ve heard of an opt-in and limited availability for mobile apps on the M1. Maybe I just didn’t make myself better aware, but it sounded like one of the M1’s selling points was the convenient accessibility to all the mobile apps. Never any mention of limited availability...

The opt-in has been present since Big Sur was in beta – well before the M1’s availability.

Very true. THX.

"There is one catch, however, as the developer needs to “opt into” or “out of” the program. Meaning, if Google doesn’t want it’s iOS/iPadOS app to be run on the Mac, then it can make that conscious decision. On the whole, it seems that many other developers are excited to jump on the train, putting their apps into the hands of more people."

maybe the apps not in"universal binary" . I make apps and didn't appear also.

** now i making my own apps later will check if appear someday.

There is are some things for a developer to consider when supporting a laptop.
Gestures, screen layout, tech support. Should something not work right, now they are taking on more support for the same income.

Android did this a few years ago for the Chromebook. There have been very mixed results but NOT a lot of positivity overall.

It wasn’t very clear to me at launch what would be supported. But, I wasn’t paying attention because I have an iPhone and iPad and will use those until Apple truly merges the platforms. 😀

Incidentally some iPhone apps don’t have an app developed for iPad either.

It's been blocked server side by Apple. So regardless of what Big Sur version you're running, the App Store servers are checking your M1 Mac.

yeah alot of apps I use on iPad isn't there for Mac. I did side load about 3-4 years but with apple blocking them when the next update comes out there's not much can do.

Glad I switched to Apollo now as I did side load the reddit app.
