I just saw in a Apple video that there should be an icon on the dock called "documents" next to the downloads icon. My documents icon is missing. How do I turn it back on??

    Thanks

Open a new Finder window, and drag the Documents folder to the right side of the Dock. ;)

Did you wait for the other icons to 'spread' apart, and then drop it in the Dock? Which other folders do you have there?

It might be possible you dropped the Documents folder in the Downloads folder. Check there, first. :)

Where did you get the Documents folder from? Did you get it from the sidebar in Finder, if so that's your problem. All you did was delete the sidebar entry. You can put it back in Finder Preferences.

You need to drag the actual Documents folder to the right hand side of the dock, not the sidebar entry.

I did get it from the sidebar in Finder. I will look in Finder preferences to see if I can get it back...

In the main finder window, not the sidebar, navigate to your user folder (or just click on the house icon in the sidebar. Now, in the main finder window you'll see the Documents folder. Drag that folder to the dock.
