S.B.G Moderator emeritus May 26, 2014 #2 In the search box in the upper right of System Preferences, did you type Java? If it doesn't show up with anything, it's probably not installed.

DeltaMac macrumors G5 May 26, 2014 #4 Java 7 is not compatible with OS X 10.6.8 Minimum requirements for Java 7 is OS X 10.7.3, or higher.
