I need to generate an app-specific password to link Fantastical to iCloud. However, whatever device I try this on, after adding a title for the password, it says to continue on one of your devices - "On an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch go to Settings > Apple ID. On a Mac go to System Preferences or System Settings > Apple ID."

Whenever I do that, there's nothing to see. No prompts or instructions. I've got 2FA turned-on and have tried difference devices and browsers but nothing works.

What am I missing here, it's got me stumped? 🤔

Cleared cookies... temp files... made sure there's no content blocker etc... no joy with Safari.

Google Chrome worked

WTF Apple?

I should have know to try Chrome, this isn't the first time a native Apple feature doesn't work on their own browser.

Same issue, wasted too much time scratching my head wondering why nothing was happening in Safari when the password was supposed to be generated. Huh?

As per advice from @ascender I tried in Chrome and voila, it worked. Thanks for the tip, much appreciated. Definitely a 'WTF Apple?' moment.

Same here. I probably spent an hour total futzing with things expecting some kind of alert in Settings on my iPhone or Mac. As with everyone else, using Chrome fixed it. VERY embarrassing bug for Safari to fail here.

@Apple_Robert I'm baffled by this happening to you in different browsers. I assume you're not using content blockers and whatnot on these other browsers?

I did have 1Blocker loaded on my MBA. I uninstalled the app and rebooted and still couldn’t get DDG or FF to work any better. I finally had to install Chrome to get it to work. That irritated me even more because I hate Google. I even tried on my phone and iPads and it was no better.

Odd. It almost seems as if it only works in Chromium-based browsers. I wonder if DDG has some privacy filter that broke it.

In any case, truly a facepalm moment for this not to work in Safari!

A quick guess: aren't Safari and DuckDuckGo both WebKit browsers? And maybe Firefox macOS uses some code from the WebKit-based Firefox iOS/iPadOS. So the problem might be caused by something in WebKit.
