The Z key on my MacBook has suddenly stopped working. I have a password that has the letter Z in it, so I obviously can't unlock it. I have a password set for waking it from sleep, but auto login for when it is off. If I hold the power button to turn it off, it still asks for a password to turn it on. How can I unlock it?

If you take it to a computer repair place and tell them your problem, they might let you borrow a USB keyboard. Bribe them with beer if necessary.

Your only choices would be:

1: Get a USB keyboard

2: fix your built-in keyboard

3: reinstall the OS and don't add a Z into the new password!
