Last year I bought an Apple TV 4. It worked great for MLB.TV.

I live in Thailand.

This year I get an error message that says "you are not authorized to watch this feed".

I called MLB.TV and they had the audacity to tell me that their content on Apple TV "isn't supported in Thailand". Funny since it always was before.

I know Apple TV isn't sold here. But it works great for just about everything else.

I tried installing Overplay. No go.

I tried putting the Overplay DNS settings in my router. Nope.

Of course I have restored the Apple TV and reinstalled the app.

They have obviously made some strange change to either the MLB app or to the ATV.

Funny enough, but my Apple TV 3 works on MLB.

But the definition isn't as good and the old remote is clunky.

Has anyone else had these issues and can you suggest a possible fix?

Much appreciated.

I also am in Thailand and my MLB.TV APP works perfect both on my 4th generation and 4K Apple TV. Bye the way, the Apple TV is sold here in Thailand. Sounds to me that you haven't allowed the MLB.TV APP to update for the 2018 season. I have APP updates on so all my APPS update automatically. I also use a DNS service to region location unlock Sling TV and ESPN Watch amongst other APPS and they all work wonderful. I use my USA Apple ID and have USA region selected. The MLB.TV APP shouldn't need DNS as it is an international APP, but I have had issues trying to find APPS in the APP store if I use my Thai Apple ID. I only really use my Thai Apple ID to install international APPS such as NFL Gamepass.

I bet updating your app will solve the issue.

Actually I've reinstalled the app and even reinstalled the OS. It hasn't helped.

By the way, what DNS service do you use here? Maybe it will work.

Thanks,

Bruce

An Australia based service "Getflix", all my testing they came out ahead as the overall best service for my streaming needs. I use their servers based in Malaysia and Singapore. Once again, MLB.TV shouldn't be affected by your DNS service, probably stream quality would be better without the DNS routing. MLB.TV has no region restriction such as USA only APP's like Hulu or ESPN Watch.

Who is your ISP here in Thailand? I'm using 3BB ADSL connection as I can't get Fibre in my 10 year old building. I don't understand why you are having issues??

I have 3BB fiber.

What region is your ATV set to? I had the exact same issue as you and went into the settings and changed my region back to the US and it works perfectly.

I've tried this and many other solutions, including setting my region to Thailand, Japan and other places.

No go.

Update: I want to thank you. I set it back to USA as a region and logged back into the USA app store and all of a sudden it worked! It didn't work before.

Thanks for that!!!!!

I was going nuts!

No worries. It was driving me crazy also. Happy it worked. Enjoy.

Glad you got it sorted out, I still don't understand why the APP doesn't appear in the Thai APP store as the MLB.TV app is an international app with no region lock. I was going thru the same issue trying to get my new Samsung TV setup. MLB app wasn't available. Then I found a FAQ on my Getflix DNS site that explained how to use a special code for the Samsung TV that allowed me to change to the U.S. Samsung app store from the default Thai store. I now have MLB and Sling apps installed on the Samsung. Nice to have a back up to use if the ATV 4K has issues.

Soondee, i have been following this thread. I have been using MLB.TV just fine on my ATV 4k until a few days ago, now i get “unknown error” not only on my atv but all apple devices. Somehow at the same time it started working on my PS4 and it hadn’t worked before. But updating the app worked. I thought i had auto update enablled but it wasn’t.

However the reason I am writting is that i saw your samsung tv fix. I have a samsung smart tv and will try it. Might have to sign up for your Getflix app. Ive been using a different proxy service.

What I like about Getflix is that besides the DNS proxy, you also get VPN service at the same price (included). I use the VPN with my iPad, works great for with my Sling TV subscription and they have many VPN cities in USA to choose from. I'm from the SF Bay Area and their SF VPN allows me to watch local news and sports. I thought of trying PSVue, but Getflix doesn't support the streaming service (I just mentioned that since you have a PS4). However Getflix works with Hulu, new ESPN+, and I believe direct TV Now (haven't tried it yet). Anyway good luck on your streaming, hope the Samsung region change went well for you.
