Heya good day

I've been trying to get tiger installed on my late 2007 Macbook Pro.

A friend of mine has run tiger on this machine before so it should work.

Especially considering mid 2007 runs tiger out of the box. And late 2007 is hardware identical. Judy shipped with a later os by default.

I can't get it to boot the installer or a pre-installed image I got from dosdude1.

The installer seems to stop booting halfway trough and then boot Mavericks instead (which is installed on another partition)

If i boot the pre installed image it seems to freeze on the spot that I've attached a image of.

Any ideas?

I've got 6 gb of ddr2 ram in here incase that has anything to do with it.

Maybe i can't find the proper installer? I've tries 5 different ones at this point. Maybe anyone has a download link or a hard drive image of tiger for the machine?

Thank you alot in advanced for the Help

So it stops right when the GUI (WindowServer) is supposed to launch. This suggests something is iffy with regards to the graphics drivers. Does an installed copy of Tiger boot in Safe Mode (hold [Shift] right after turning on the machine and keep it held down)?

I have two mid-2007 MBPs (15" and 17"), and they run Tiger flawlessly. I have the proper Intel Tiger v10.4.10 restore DVD. IIRC an image of that is on Archive.org. The site won't load for me right now but try searching for "v10.4.10" or "10.4.10".

Do you know the specific version of Tiger your installation media is? According to EveryMac this system requires 10.4.9 or higher.

Make sure you either use MBP3,1 specific Tiger restore disks

or if you need to use a pre-existing install/image from another mac, that you install the MacBook Pro software update 1.2 https://support.apple.com/kb/dl180?locale=en_US

a normal Tiger install even fully updated lacks the GeForce 8xxx drivers and updated OpenGL Frameworks the MBP3,1 needs

so you must either start with a MBP3,1 restore disk which has them, or install them manually via the aforementioned update :)

(this is also how you install Mac OS X Server Tiger on a MBP3,1 if you need to)

Tiger needs machine specific restore CD/DVDs. The retail installer is a PowerPC only and will not work correctly on an Intel Mac.
