I can't hide the keyboard in ios 7 in messages. With ios 6 I just had to tap somewhere on the previos messages and the keyboard would hide, allowing more screen space to browse old conversations.

How can you do that now before going out and in again?

Swipe down from the top of the keyboard. The same way you would close the control center.

On top of what user above said, it's simply not true that a tap would hide the keyboard in previous versions. Nothing has changed, it's always been a swipe down from above keyboard.

As mentioned swipe down.... Or use the keyboard key on the bottom right corner.

yup.

also, if you swipe your messages to left, it will show you the time stamps for each message.

Nice one...

Please tell me it's a new ios7 feature... It always bugged me not having individual time stamps for messages.

It worked with a tap or double tap.

Ya that's cool. Apple could also adapt this idea that being quirky and clever isn't necessary and just provide a toggle for time stamps.

I'm willing to bet money it didn't ;)

You are making me doubt now! What it's for sure it's a difference in functionality that my finger noticed. Perhaps I did a very quick double tap that acted as a micro scroll, and probably you had to scroll less than now. Now you need to do a slow loooong swipe down before it even starts to disappear.

How strange. My fingers noticed no difference.

It's as fast as your finger/thumb can move. Also, if there's enough momentum you can just flick it without having to swipe all the way down.

Yessireebob, new in iOS 7. ...also new in iOS 7...have you noticed the word "Contact" top right of message screen? Tap it and you can directly call or FaceTime, or tap i (in circle) for complete contact info.

thanks for the tip.

I don't know if that is new or not.... But for a reason that now eludes me I never thought of tapping that.
