I can't hide the keyboard in ios 7 in messages. With ios 6 I just had to tap somewhere on the previos messages and the keyboard would hide, allowing more screen space to browse old conversations.

How can you do that now before going out and in again?
yup.
also, if you swipe your messages to left, it will show you the time stamps for each message.
On top of what user above said, it's simply not true that a tap would hide the keyboard in previous versions. Nothing has changed, it's always been a swipe down from above keyboard.
It worked with a tap or double tap.

I'm willing to bet money it didn't 😉
How strange. My fingers noticed no difference. What it's for sure it's a difference in functionality that my finger noticed.
It's as fast as your finger/thumb can move. Also, if there's enough momentum you can just flick it without having to swipe all the way down. Now you need to do a slow loooong swipe down before it even starts to disappear.
Yessireebob, new in iOS 7. ...also new in iOS 7...have you noticed the word "Contact" top right of message screen? Tap it and you can directly call or FaceTime, or tap i (in circle) for complete contact info.Nice one...
Please tell me it's a new ios7 feature... It always bugged me not having individual time stamps for messages.
