I'm running Ventura 13.4 on a Macbook Pro. I don't shut down my "Mail" app when I'm done with it, I usually hit "Cmd-H" to hide it (it's still running, there's a black dot next to its avatar in the Dock; when a new email comes in the red circle pops up on the avatar).
But, recently, when I hit "Cmd-H", Mail stays up and I just get a "tuck" sound. I've rebooted Mail, rebooted the whole laptop, still won't "hide". This is only a problem with Mail; all my other apps "hide" just fine.
Any ideas? TIA.

Yesterday I had this exact problem with the Preview app with Stage Manager turned on. Turned off Stage Manager and the problem stopped. Haven’t tried turning Stage Manager back on yet.

Thanks for the input; I did play with Stage Manager when it came out, but I checked and it's currently turned Off, so I doubt that's my issue.

Does Mail menu > Hide Mail still work? That'd isolate it to either the feature itself, or the keyboard shortcut not working when in Mail.

I looked there, and "Hide Mail" was greyed out. I saw, right below it, "Show All", and that brought up all the apps I had hidden. "Cmd-H" would hide them, one by one, including Mail. So, I don't know what happened there, buts its fixed.
Thank you, Sir!

I had the same problem. In my case it was cured by clicking the top left green button and selecting "Exit Full Screen" . The "Hide Mail" (cmd H) is greyed out when in full screen mode.
