Can't Import mp3 Files Into iTunes

I've got a folder containing 11 mp3 audio tracks that for some reason won't import into iTunes. I've tried the following:
- Double-Clicking each mp3 file
- Dragging the mp3 file into the iTunes window and the iTunes Dock icon
- Choosing 'Add to Library' from the file menu

mp3 track information:
Channel Count 1
Total Bit Rate 288,000

What could the solution be?

Do you get any kind of error message? Have you tried ununstalling and reinstalling iTunes (google how to)?

Try re-creating the mp3s using something like All2MP3 or Audacity. Then import.

That's a rather extreme approach, since it's likely the problem lies only with the specific files, which are possibly corrupt. If other files can be imported, the problem isn't the iTunes app.

No error messages are shown and other files import fine. I'll try those apps to see if it works.

EDIT: Unfortunately both Apps failed. I had to resort to opening each mp3 track in QuickTime and then using AppleScript to extract the audio from each file. It worked but now I have huge files.

But now I can't add album artwork to the files. This is like whack-a-mole.
