    I have a 5 day old ( iMac 20" aluminum) running 10.5 I'm trying to install Google Earth and I get this: "/users/myname/Desktop/pqc088ap.exe could not be saved, because you cannot change the contents of that folder. Change the folder properties and try again, or try saving the file in a different location."

    I've repaired permissions. I've logged in as administrator and gone to that folder but was not allowed to take any action with respect to that folder. I've removed an old version of Google Earth that was copied over from my ibook.

    Any suggestions? THANKS!

    Why are you trying to install the Windows version of Google Earth?

    I'm not (intentionally)-- the google site has you click agree to a license for mac pc or linux, after you agree it sends you to a download. Generally Google anticipates your OS and sends you to the right version. Thinking perhaps the link is wrong, I went to macupdate to grab it. Same problem. Different file name, but still an .exe. Very odd.

    * * * * Figured it out

    OK-- I was trying to do this in firefox. I opened Safari and it downloaded immediately. I must have a firefox setting telling websites I'm a windows PC. No idea why. Thanks very much bluevelvet-- I had not caught the .exe or realized its significance.

    What browser are you using? I've just tried it through Safari 3 and got the .dmg which unpacks to a drag and drop .app that you can just copy to your Applications folder.

    Take a look at the edit above and thanks again. My firefox install was telling websites I was a PC, apparently. No problems with Safari.
