Whenever I try to install new software using Installer, installer says "preparing for installation" but it never installs. I have tried quitting installer using terminal and restarting my computer but no matter what I do I can't install new software. Any ideas?

I'm on 10.8.3 but it also wouldn't work on 10.8.2.
I tried installing some software on a guest account and it wouldn't let me install it there either.

Did you follow the instructions on the support page of the developers website if installation fails? Specifically

Installation fails.

Try to restart computer. If it does not help, try to remove Signature from the Installer package following these steps:
Open new Terminal at XtraFinder.pkg's parent folder.
Execute these two commands:
pkgutil --expand XtraFinder.pkg /tmp/XtraFinder.pkg
pkgutil --flatten /tmp/XtraFinder.pkg XtraFinder.pkg
Reinstall.

Thanks that seemed to work!
