iPod touch can't install new version of Itunes

it says it cant install quicktime which is needed for Itunes and fails/quits

anyone encounter this before?

PS I know I have quicktime already installed, I even tried downloading QT and installing just that, but I still get the error.

Are you running a PC or Mac? And what version of the OS? In any event you likely have to remove iTunes completely off the computer. Here are steps based on your operating system:

For Windows XP

For Vista/7

For Mac OS X

Note that for Mac OS X 10.6, QuickTime X is integrated into the OS so if there is something wrong with it you'll need to reinstall the entire operating system.
