I just got my first white unibody 2010 Macbook (A1342) with no OS installed then I got Snow Leopard installation DVD. I'm trying to install OS by turning on the Macbook. It just shows a white blank screen with a folder and "?" in the center. I try to insert the DVD into the drive but it doesn't automatically take in the disc. I could shove it in but I fear I may damage the DVD or drive or never get the disc back. How should I go about doing this?

Go into the drive at all? If not, you may have a hardware issue.

Normal process for installation is.

Insert DVD

Shut down your mac

Reboot whilst holding the option key
