Can't install snow leopard

I bought snow leopard today and when I insert the disc, the finder pops up with all the usual stuff. When I click the install button, nothing happens.

Any help?

Try shutting down the computer, then start it up holding the "c" key until it boots from the DVD. Then install.

I keep getting kernel panics now

A. did you buy the upgrade or retail ?
B. what Mac are you trying to install it on. When I say what Mac i Mean .Year,model etc.

bought the upgrade.

Installing on a first gen macbook pro, I guess that makes it 2006? 2ghz intel core duo, 2gb of ram.

Are you upgrading from Leopard ?

If not you need to buy the Box Set.

If you're trying to install it on your hackintosh. Give up.

I'd recommend backing all your files up and do a clean install.
