yea i installed oktoprep
and those step-by-step guides arent working for some reason.
I follow them word by word but i always end with the same result.
Im not sure what benefits there are with using 1.1.2 but im thinking ill just restore my itouch and jailbreak it in the 1.1.1 firmware. Is there any reason I have to use 1.1.2?

It fixes the calendar "bug" and it fixes a couple of little things like dialogue boxes that keep calling the iPod Touch an iPhone.

well i guess its settled then
until someone tells me what my problem was, ill just use 1.1.1

Try using a different USB port. It's pretty important to be running 1.1.2 as it fixes quite a few glitches and bugs. It's mainly stability that it worked on which is currently what the iPod touch is having issues with.

have you tried this on a different pc? I know it sounds like a silly question but you gotta ask to make sure its not a jailbreak not gone correctly

I experienced the same thing on my Mac. I redownloaded the Jailbreak and it worked fine. Somewhere between when they first posted the files and two weeks ago (when I finally upgraded the touch) the files changed. Download the latest one which, (unhelpfully enough) has the same version number.

i have not tried it on another pc i guess i will next chance i get

I re-downloaded jailbreak and I got the same result 🙁

yes itunes was closed. i also tried closing all other ipod/itunes/apple processes through the task manager.

did you delete all teh processes dealing with Ipod or apple or itunes? i DONT know if this will help since i did mine on mac but it would be worht a try, perhaps the processes were not letting you access it as you would have liked to🙄

I read here that windows XP firewall, or another firewall, might be causing the problem. Try disabling them and giving it a go.

you need to go to 1.1.1 tweaks then install oktoprep. then you need to upgrade to 1.1.2, thenn download 1-1-2 installer if on mac click osx or jailbreak.jar click ssh. windows run windows.bat

ok! 😀 my windows firewall was the problem. all i had to do was turn it off before i started windows.bat and it worked the first time. one more question tho...
what is the purpose of the ssh app it put on my ipod?
