Just updated MacOS on new Macbook Pro 14" Max and older Macbook Air 15" to Sonoma 14.1.1 and the App Store, when clicked, just closes/crashes and doesn't launch. Anyone else with this issue?

Work computer, Macbook Pro, running 12.6.1, has no issue with App Store.

Found a number of issues on Reddit's board with same issue LINK

Try to sign out of your Apple ID, restart your Mac, then start the App Store app. If it doesn’t crashes, you can log in directly from the App Store.

I happened to experience this as well under macOS Sonoma 14.1.1. I deleted related plist files inside my Library folder, logoff my macOS user account, restart and not helping. I eventually checked the 'Install application updates from the App Store' under Software Update and hopefully it will get the app update in the background.

Just tried to open the App Store and had the same issue... Must be a Sonoma bug

Edit: Tried restarting and it didn't help. I think/ hope Apple will patch this soon if it's a widespread issue. They can't make money from the App Store if it won't launch 🤣

So glad someone posted this - it was driving me nuts trying to figure it out. I first thought it was an iCloud account issue until I checked on a machine that had no user account set up and it still crashed. Really difficult to time the workaround on newer machines since it launches so fast!

Hopefully, we get a fix released soon that addresses this.

No problem here on 14.2 Beta (don't know if I had any problems on the previous version).

This is the problem when Apple is allowed to gatekeep with their ridiculous appstores... all mac apps should be installable outside of the appstore. huge thread on apple now

Mac programs are installable outside the App Store...

Not seeing the issue, perhaps it's a weird Apple Silicon only bug or they fixed it. My guess is it was a problem on the backend anyway.
