Hello, I always buy devices with white, silver or pink bezel. I bought an iPad PRO from Costco about two weeks ago. The only color they have for the 12.9" model is space gray and without LTE option. After 1-2 days of use, I know that I dislike black bezel. Not sure about whether or not to get the LTE version yet. According to their return policy, I can return it within 90 days which is until mid-June. Not sure if they will do it if I return this late as I heard that it depends on the store.

Given that Apple did not release the iPad Pro 2018 in their March event, the next chance would be June followed by September or later. I have spent too much time for the past few days on trying to get information to make a decision. Unfortunately, there are insufficient information.

Whatever I settle down with, I plan to use it for at least 4-5 years.

What suggestions do you have?

I'm sorry, but I read your post twice and am still unsure as what information you're asking for exactly. Suggestions for what?

Sorry for not being clear.

Suggestion on whether or not to return the IPP with black bezel now and get the one with white bezel. Or, wait until June and see how it goes.

I would personally feel that it’s disingenuous and deceptive to simply keep it now only to return it later on. Other people might not feel this way.

Also, keeping it that long would risk damaging it and voiding the return. I would rather return it now and see what comes out in June.

Returning at the end of the 3-month period sounds bad. However, to them, returning now or returning at the end of the 90 days is probably the same.

As for the risk of damaging. I have done lots of homework and chose the best screen protector and case I can found for it. I treat it as if I were going to keep it for years. It is well protected.

Another option is to return it now and get the cheap iPad 2018 as a temporarily device. Then, I don't need to care if Apple releases the IPP 12.9" 2018 in June or September. Even a IPP 10.5"'s screen is too small for my viewing and annotating of pdf textbook though.

It sounds as if your mind is made up.

Not yet. I don't like black bezel. I had a white and a black next to each other in store yesterday. Definitely I like the white one much more. The more I use the black bezel IPP the more I miss lighter color bezels.

I really enjoy these forums but feel for those who constantly rethink their decisions. Everyone is different and it's nice to have options. Personally I wouldn't have anything but the black bezel. Bought a maxed out 10.5 iPad pro and absolutely not looking back. LOVE this thing. No regrets even though the new iPad is fairly nice if all your going to do is use it as a media consumption device. I know I wouldn't be satisfied with it. I researched for months, knew exactly what I wanted, what I didn't want in the new one coming this year, and what I was going to use it for, but wasn't going to pay full retail. I waited until they started showing on the refurbished site then got it along with Applecare+ about a week after. I only have about 15GB free on my 128 iPad Air 2 so I wanted all the storage I could get and the four gigs of ram make for a better overall experience IMHO. The screen is amazing and promotion.....well what can I say...once ya go promo nothing is the same after. The Air 2 seems a bit choppy now in comparison. Unless it slows to a crawl or stops working completely I'm good to go for quite some time I do believe. Hoping to use this for at least 5 years and knowing that some on here still use their iPad 2 or 3 think that's quite feasible.

Return now. I'm guessing you can see the bezel because you have not placed the iPad within a case. Any small accident and your decision will be made for you, not to mention the IPP display replacement is currently prohibitive: something like $449

As an aside:
Many controversial studies out there but the gist I get from them:
Studies have shown white bezels cause significantly more eye strain ( tiredness ) due to more eye movements to the edge of the display.
Some studies show white bezels causes 'glaring' or high contrast exhaustion from white bezel to dark display, whereas many others show the opposite ( typically in web page or book reading / white on white background ).

If you prefer the white, return the IPP now and get the one you want.

I can see the thick bezel even the IPP is in a case. That is one of the reasons I hesitate to settle with the 2017 version. I guess bezel-less might look good but it means there will be a notch and I will see my thumbs blocking the viewing area.

I guess the selection of bezel color is more of personal taste and what applications the users are running most of the time. For people who watch videos a lot, it is good to have the black bezel. For those who annotate pdfs and don' like to see fingerprints, white may be better.

I went to a funeral recently. The black bezel reminds me of picture frame of the deceased.
