So, I just got my first iPhone and wanted to use @me.com for my email since my ISP doesn't have an IMAP server and I want my email to sync on my Mac and my phone.

I created a @me.com email address in System Preferences, but I was never prompted for a password. This @me.com address is appearing as an alternate email address on my Apple ID, which is using my ISP's email as the username.

How can I create a password so I can start using the mail services?

I figured it out right after I made the post. I turned on iCloud email on my phone. I guess a password is not necessary and I can continue to use my ISP email address as my AppleID. Interesting....

I guess I'll leave this here just in case someone else runs into the same problem....
