can't make % on my apple wireless keyboard

the problem is that i can't make % on my apple wireless keyboard, both my shift button and my number 5 key work, what else can be the problem.

Looks like you're making it just fine in your post😛

Double check that the correct input source is selected for the keyboard in System Prefs> Language & Text > Input Sources.

the problem was that the text to talk shortcut was set to shift + 5
