Just tried merging small video files into a larger one in Quicktime Player that I'm used to doing by dragging files onto the timeline and saving it but for some reason it no longer works. I'm running Big Sur 11.6, does anyone else have this issue or have seen a source talking about a change in the program where they removed this function completely?

Working fine for me. See video below. Also on 11.6. QuickTime version is 10.5 (1086.4.2). One video was in .mp4 format and the other was .mov. Have you tried restarting your Mac and trying again? Have you tried with two different videos?

I have the last update on Quicktime Player and I have re-booted my Macbok Air but the problem still persists. So annoying.

Perhaps these particular videos you're trying to merge are themselves the issue. Have you tried two other random videos? For instance, just download two random, short videos from YouTube and try to merge them. If all else fails, you can always use iMovie as a workaround.

Thanks, apparently the issue is connected to handbrakeing DVDs. So my option is importing the clips in moviemaker and exporting them?

I found a fix for this. If you can not drag and drop which is what happened to me, then you can go to Edit>Add Clip To End. This will allow you to select as many clips as you want and and then to your video roll. I hope this helps

That option is grey marked and unavailable when I've opened the clips that can't be merged in Quicktime. So doesn't help me.
