Hi everyone,
I got a pretty good deal on an Samsung 990 PRO SSD. I bought a 10Gbps UGREEN SSD enclosure
for it.
Now I can read the SSD on the file app (using the usb-c to usb-c cable provided) on my wife's Iphone 15 pro. However when I plug it into my Iphone 16 it doesn't appear on the files app.
I thought at first it might be an issue with my Iphone or the fact that a non pro couldn't read drives, but when I plug in the other Philips SSD that I have I can read that on the Iphone 16. So I'm a bit puzzled as to why I can't read the other SSD.
Is it the enclosure that is too powerful or weak, or is it the SSD? Any idea how I could solve this? I don't mind getting another enclosure (even slower) but it will be a bit annoying if the SSD is unusable with the Iphone 16.
Thanks in advance,
Papy07

You need a slower PCIe Gen 3 SSD, such as Crucial P3. The USB-C port can only output 4.5W so PCIe Gen 4 isn't likely to work, especially larger multi-TB versions.

exactly that. And even my Samsung 970 uses too much juice when it is under load despite it is a PCIe Gen3. I also have some Samsung T5 und T7 Touch and they all work flawlessly. If you don`t want to use an external power or powerbank with a Hub, this may be the better option.

Thanks all for replies.

Shoot I thought about getting a "slower" ssd one like a T7, but settled on the pro since the price was the same... Well at least I can open it on my wife's phone :D
I'll give the powerbank and hub a try. Thanks
